A Traveling Friend

I have been wanting to make a three day weekend trip in April. My friend who wanted to go with me bailed out. She is having money problems at the moment. So, I decided to ask my public (all six of you who read my blog :) if you know anybody who would want to go with me. Of course, we'll split the cost. The two possibilities that I had looked into were Boston and San Diego, but I'm open to other possibilities. I know, I'm grasping at straws here. It really sucks to be single, no one to do things with.

Interesting that you would consider two such different places as Boston and San Diego - how did you narrow your list down to these places and what about them are you drawn to see? I, myself, lived in Boston one year and April is still a bit chilly there tho Spring does the city wonders...

Hi Vince - I'm glad you're following my blog. I have always wanted to see Boston, because of all its history and I have heard that San Diego is very beautiful. I'm interested in visiting a number of other places in the US. I was interested in these two places at this particular time, because I found some good deals for hotels in April.

I had a boss who once told me he and his then fiance used to number the cities they wanted to visit and throw darts at a dartboard to pick where they would go next - almost as random as asking your blog readers :)

So having lived in Boston at least a little while, I would pitch that as the superior travel destination. For instance, an intellectual woman with an appreciation of quality shopping should also know that the well-known and highly regarded Newbury St is also within walking distance of the main Boston Public Library and both reachable by public transportation. You can take an tour of the city sights on and off the water in an amphibious vehicle styled after a giant Duck, you will develop a new appreciation of speed walking (and talking) keeping up with the locals, find its kinda cool to putter around the Harvard or MIT campus, enjoy plentiful, fresh, delicious seafood and the best italian food I've ever had and where else does a city paint a giant red stripe all through downtown so you don't accidentally miss historical sites like Samuel Adams favorite pub ;)

I cant speak much about San Diego but would be happy to share other thoughts about Boston and random blogposts offline too - my email is vince at taluskie.com
